Match your Akshar with a Rashi -
How can two people begin in exactly the same place, and become so entirely themselves?
That is the thought I kept returning to while designing Akshar.
My boys are twins, born two minutes apart. Same womb, same day, raised side by side. And yet, from the very beginning, they have been unmistakably themselves. Different energies. Different strengths. Different ways of seeing the world.
Being their mother has taught me something Loving people equally does not mean loving them identically. We are not meant to fit the people we love into the same mould. We are meant to see them for exactly who they are.
That became the heart of Akshar.
Since the first samples arrived, I have worn a silver letter for one of my boys and a gold letter for the other. I haven’t taken them off. Two different metals, two different letters, two completely different souls, held equally close to me.
And so I didn’t want to create an alphabet where every letter followed the same formula. Each Akshar was given its own character, its own movement, its own meaning. It is also why this collection introduces silver to NIMMISHA for the first time. In Ayurveda, silver is Rajata, traditionally associated with the mind, renewal and strength.
Gold crowns you. Silver roots you.
Akshar was never really about wearing an initial. It is about the people behind those letters. The ones who shaped us, the ones we are raising, the ones we love, the ones we remember, and sometimes, the person we are becoming ourselves.
One letter. One person. Sometimes two, three or four.
They don’t have to match to matter equally.
With love,
Nimmisha
