What are the characteristics of each Rashi?

A note before you read
A Rashi is a Vedic zodiac sign, measured against the fixed stars rather than the seasons. This puts it roughly 23 days out of step with the Western zodiac (the gap comes from precession), so your Vedic sign may be the one just before your familiar sun sign. Each Rashi is governed by a planet, a Graha, in the system known as Jyotish, and that planet shapes its nature.
